Tell us something about yourself, which board have you studied in, how much did you score in your class 12?
Kartikey: I am from Mumbai, Maharashtra. My father Mr Chandresh Gupta works as General Manager (Paper Industry) and my mother Mrs Poonam Gupta is a housewife. Elder brother has completed his BTech in computer science and is also working. This year I secured 93.7 percent in Class 12th.

What is your score in JEE Advanced 2019? What is your all India rank and category rank? What was your JEE Main rank and marks?
Kartikey: I secured 346 marks out of 372 in JEE Advanced 2019. My All India Rank is 1 in general category.

Marks obtained in JEE Advanced 2019:
Mathematics: 121
Physics: 113
Chemistry: 112
I secured AIR-18 in JEE Mains 2019 by scoring 100 percentile and was Second Topper of Maharashtra State.



Why do you want to study engineering? When did you decide to study engineering? Which branch would you be interested in? Any reason?
Kartikey: My dream of pursuing engineering from IIT Bombay in CS branch is going to come true. I have qualified KVPY in the year 2017 and 2018. I have also qualified INPhO, InChO, INAO and INJSO.

When did you start your JEE Advanced preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Advanced?
Kartikey: I always focused on studying with a relaxed mind. I did not study for long hours. Apart from regular classes, I did self-study for 6-7 hours with a proper schedule. I also gave weekly tests regularly, which helped me do self-analysis which improved my performance. Also, I made sure to clear the doubts before sleeping. I took a break and relaxed after every two hours. I used a regular keypad phone and was never active on social media.


Did you take coaching for JEE and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching according to you?
Kartikey: I have been studying in ALLEN Career Institute since 2017. The faculties here work very hard to help candidates achieve success. After classes, I used to dedicate six to seven hours for self-study. Joining JEE coaching doubled my strength.

Who is your ideal or biggest inspiration in life and why?
Kartikey: Great Mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan is my idol.

You know you are an inspiration to thousands of students across the country. Do you have any message for future aspirants on tackling the JEE Advanced exam?
Kartikey: Students should study without stress. During the preparation, they should be relaxed physically as well as mentally. Self-competition plays a vital role in achieving the goal. Do not study for long hours. Take a break and relax after every two hours.

Expected Cut off to Qualify JEE Advanced 2019!


The National Testing Agency, NTA has successfully concluded JEE Main 2019 April exam on 12 April 2019.  More than 6 lakh candidates have appeared for JEE Main Exam 2019 conducted in April. Students who appeared for JEE Main 2019, are confused about their chances of being shortlisted for JEE Advanced as they have no idea of the cut-off to be released by NTA. As per NTA circular, the JEE Main 2019 Cut off is expected to be announced by April 30, 2019.

JEE Main April 2019 Important Instructions–You must not miss!



JEE Main candidates gear up, the time is here! The National Testing Agency, NTA has released an advisory notification for candidates appearing for the entrance exam in April 2019 which candidates must know to avoid being in any hassle and spoiling the crucial day. JEE Main April 2019 will be conducted from April 8 to April 12, 2019 (except April 11 due to general elections).

Here are the important instructions by NTA for all the candidates-
  1. The admit card must be downloaded in advance from JEE Main’s official website: www.jeemain.nic.
  2. Aspirant should crosscheck all the important details in the admit card like reporting time, gate closing time, shift timings, date of examination, and venue of the test.
  3. Check your admit card, and inform NTA if you find any mistakes in your admit card. As you will not be allowed to sit in the exam with wrong details. So if have you entered the wrong details while applying for JEE Main April 2019. Check here to make the corrections.
  4. Visit your exam center half an hour early. Locate your center using ‘Center Locator Tool’. Students are advised to visit the exam center a day before to avoid any issues in the examination day. JEE Main 2019 List of Required Documents in Exam Hall
Exam Authority have released a list of important documents to be brought to the examination hall, which are mentioned below.
  1. Coloured A-4 sized printout of the admit card
  2. Passport size photo same as given for admit card.
  3. Government authorized identity proof (PAN card, Driving Licence or Aadhaar card)
  4. Certificate issued by competent authority (Only for PWD category students)
JEE Main 2019 List of Prohibited Items at the Exam Centre
After the strict rules of checking followed in various Examination, the exam conducting authority released a list of prohibited items for the JEE Mains 2019. Such as-
  1. Any kind of bag/handbag.
  2. Any instrument, geometry/pencil box.
  3. Any paper, stationery, textual material (printed/written).
  4. Any electronic device like mobile phone, pager, calculator, or camera.
  5. Electronic watches also aren't allowed.
Although you are not allowed to carry these items inside your examination hall but you may keep your belongings in locker (If provided).

2,24,000 Candidates to be shortlisted For JEE Advanced 2019-Check Eligibilty Criteria


Engineering aspirants take note! Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, has released a notification on its official website regarding the upcoming JEE Advanced 2019 examination. As per the official notice, the top 2,24,000 candidates (including all categories) of JEE Main 2019 examination will become eligible for the JEE Advance examination. However, the total number of candidates may be slightly higher than 2,24,000 in the presence of ‘tied’ ranks/scores in each category.

JEE Advanced 2019 Registration Process

The registration process would begin in May first week after JEE Main 2019 Final result and ranks are declared. The cut off for the JEE Advanced 2019 examination would be shared at the time of declaration of JEE Main 2019 Rank. As per National Testing Agency circular, the JEE Main 2019 rank is expected to be announced by April 30, 2019.

JEE Advanced 2019 Eligibility Criteria
  1. Performance in JEE Main 2019 - Candidates must score qualifying marks in JEE Main 2019 to be among the top 2,24,000 eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  2. Age limit of candidates - Candidates must be born on or after October 1,1994. However, SC, ST and PwD candidates are provided 5 years relaxation i.e. their birth date should fall on or after October 1, 1988
  3. Number of attempts - JEE Advanced allows only 2 chances to appear in exam in two consecutive years. Candidates should not have appeared for JEE Advanced 2017.

  1. Appearance in Class 12th board or equivalent qualifying examination –
  • A candidate must have appeared for Class 12th examination for the first time either in academic session 2017- 2018 or 2018-2019.
  • However, if the examination Board of Class 12th has announced the results for the academic session 2016-17 after June 2017, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their class 12th board exam in 2017 are also eligible, but they meet the other eligibility criteria.
  • If the Board of Class 12th examinations have declared the results for the academic year 2016-17 before June 2017 but the result of the applicant was withheld, then he/she is not eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  1. Earlier admission at IITs
  • A candidate must NOT have secured admission in any of the IITs even if they have not attended the classes in the program.
  • Candidates who were admitted at any of the IITs but their admission was cancelled after joining due to any reason are also NOT eligible.
  • Candidates admitted in a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2018 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.

For Foreign candidates, only criteria 2,3,4 and 5 are eligible. Indian citizens are required to fulfill the criteria as mentioned above. Also, Supreme Court had last month ruled that the upper age limit for IIT JEE examination should be removed. Hence, the eligibility criteria as mentioned in point 2 is expected to be modified. You are advised to keep a close check on the official website of JEE Advanced which is jeeadv.ac.in for clarification on the age limit order.
