Name reaction is a chemical reaction which is named after the person who developed or discovered it. 1.      Aldol condensation
Two molecules of aldehydes or ketones having a-hydrogen condense together in presence of base [dil. NaOH, Na2CO3, Ba(OH)2] to form b-hydroxyaldehyde or b-hydroxyketone respectively which are collectively known as aldol.

2.     Clemmensen reduction

In this method, aldehydes and ketones are reduced with Zn – Hg amalgam and conc. HCl.

3.     Crossed aldol condensation
Aldol condensation of different molecules of aldehydes or ketones or one of aldehyde and one of ketone is known as crossed aldol condensation. Crossed aldol condensation yields a mixture of different products.

4.     Cannizzaro reaction
It is a self-oxidation-reduction reaction in which aldehydes that do not have any a-hydrogen atom undergo disproportionation reaction (i.e., self-redox reaction) in the presence of 50% aqueous or ethanolic solution of alkali in which one of the molecule being reduced to alcohol and other being oxidised to the salt of corresponding acid.

5.     Etard reaction
Aromatic hydrocarbons on treatment with mild oxidizing agents such as chromyl chloride CrO2Cl2 yield aldehydes.

JEE Main April 2019 Form Correction Process & EWS Registration Started – Check it Out!

                      

Have you entered the wrong details while applying for JEE Main April 2019? Well, don’t worry! The application form correction process for JEE Main April 2019 has been activated on the official website of JEE Main and NTA, jeemain.nic.in and nta.ac.in, respectively. The candidates who wish to make necessary changes in their online application form can do it by March 15, 2019. Thereafter, no corrections in any particulars will be provided under any circumstances.

Apart from the correction process, the NTA has open the window for EWS (economically weaker section) quota registration today. This is applicable for all students of January and April session of JEE Main 2019. Official notification regarding the same is attached here.

What can be corrected in JEE Main April 2019 Application Form
  • You can change the choice of paper from Paper I to Paper II (and vice versa) or opt for both papers.
  • You can change the spellings in your Personal Details.
  • You can edit the information related your academics.
  • Medium of examination can be changed from English to Hindi/Gujarati or vice versa.
  • Name, State of Eligibility, and Date of Birth can also be changed.
  • You can also change your category.

            

Aspirants must note that you will have to pay the additional fee if applicable while making the correction for JEE Main April 2019. The additional fee (if applicable) should be paid by the candidates through Credit/ Debit card/ Net banking and UPI only.
JEE Main April 2019 Application Form Corrections
Here are some steps to make JEE Main April 2019 online corrections:
  1. Visit the official website of JEE Main or NTA, jeemain.nic.in or nta.ac.in.
  2. Click on the link 'Apply for JEE(Main) April 2019'
  3. Already registered for JEE (Main) April 2019 can click on login
  4. Either sign-in with JEE (Main) January 2019 credentials or other login details
  5. Carefully make the required changes and hit submit.
  6. Take a print out once you’ve submitted the corrected form for future references.

2,24,000 Candidates to be shortlisted For JEE Advanced 2019-Check Eligibilty Criteria


Engineering aspirants take note! Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, has released a notification on its official website regarding the upcoming JEE Advanced 2019 examination. As per the official notice, the top 2,24,000 candidates (including all categories) of JEE Main 2019 examination will become eligible for the JEE Advance examination. However, the total number of candidates may be slightly higher than 2,24,000 in the presence of ‘tied’ ranks/scores in each category.

JEE Advanced 2019 Registration Process

The registration process would begin in May first week after JEE Main 2019 Final result and ranks are declared. The cut off for the JEE Advanced 2019 examination would be shared at the time of declaration of JEE Main 2019 Rank. As per National Testing Agency circular, the JEE Main 2019 rank is expected to be announced by April 30, 2019.

  • SC, ST, PwD candidates: Rs 1,300 + GST
  • For all other candidates: Rs 2,600 + GST

JEE Advanced 2019 Eligibility Criteria
  1. Performance in JEE Main 2019 - Candidates must score qualifying marks in JEE Main 2019 to be among the top 2,24,000 eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  2. Age limit of candidates - Candidates must be born on or after October 1,1994. However, SC, ST and PwD candidates are provided 5 years relaxation i.e. their birth date should fall on or after October 1, 1988
  3. Number of attempts - JEE Advanced allows only 2 chances to appear in exam in two consecutive years. Candidates should not have appeared for JEE Advanced 2017.

  1. Appearance in Class 12th board or equivalent qualifying examination –
  • A candidate must have appeared for Class 12th examination for the first time either in academic session 2017- 2018 or 2018-2019.
  • However, if the examination Board of Class 12th has announced the results for the academic session 2016-17 after June 2017, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their class 12th board exam in 2017 are also eligible, but they meet the other eligibility criteria.
  • If the Board of Class 12th examinations have declared the results for the academic year 2016-17 before June 2017 but the result of the applicant was withheld, then he/she is not eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  1. Earlier admission at IITs
  • A candidate must NOT have secured admission in any of the IITs even if they have not attended the classes in the program.
  • Candidates who were admitted at any of the IITs but their admission was cancelled after joining due to any reason are also NOT eligible.
  • Candidates admitted in a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2018 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.

For Foreign candidates, only criteria 2,3,4 and 5 are eligible. Indian citizens are required to fulfill the criteria as mentioned above. Also, Supreme Court had last month ruled that the upper age limit for IIT JEE examination should be removed. Hence, the eligibility criteria as mentioned in point 2 is expected to be modified. You are advised to keep a close check on the official website of JEE Advanced which is jeeadv.ac.in for clarification on the age limit order.
